Hi

Hi everyone. You're probably wondering why I've been lazy about posting about my story, since I usually do a lot more. Well, I don't want to post anything right now, because it's undergoing changes constantly. For instance, instead of being in the modern day, it might be sometime in the future. So... I haven't forgotten this blog!!!! So, you'll just have to put up with my posting Owl City songs and all that. Besides, you don't MIND Owl City, right? (Amber: You'd post it even if every single follower of this blog complained about it. Nicki T.: Yes. Yes I would. Besides, I don't have that many followers.)

So, just letting you know I haven't forgotten.

PS I think I've found a picture of Amber. She didn't look a thing like I thought she would.

Here's a laugh for you

Here are some real life examples of what NOT to put on your resume.

"My intensity and focus are at inordinately high levels, and my ability to complete projects on time is unspeakable."

"Instrumental in ruining entire operation for a Midwest chain store."

"I am a rabid typist."

"I have an excellent track record, although I am not a horse."

"References: None, I've left a path of destruction behind me."

"I have become completely paranoid, trusting completely nothing and absolutely no one."

"Don't take the comments of my former employer too seriously, they were unappreciative beggars and slave drivers."

"I am loyal to my employer at all costs...Please feel free to respond to my resume on my office voicemail."

"Qualifications: No education or experience."

"Extensive background in accounting. I can also stand on my head!"

"My goal is to be a meteorologist. But since I possess no training in meteorology, I suppose I should try stock brokerage."

"I procrastinate--especially when the task is unpleasant."

Guess who FINALLY watched High School Musical last night?

High School Musical is about two teenagers who meet on vacation, Troy and Gabriella, after being picked to sing a song at a New Year's party. When they arrive home, they realize they both attend the same school. Gabriella is brilliant and loves math. Troy is the captain of the basketball team and the coach's son. On the spur of the moment, they decide to try out for the school musical and receive a callback. But not everyone wants them in the school musical.

I LOVE musicals. I love getting the soundtracks afterwards. My favorite song from this was probably "When There was Me and You". I love this movie and hope to watch it again SOON!!!! I disliked Sharpay from the moment I saw her and, every time she showed up, I liked her less. The only thing I didn't like was the tryouts for the musical. The singers were horrible. It's supposed to be funny, but they had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many of them. It was awful to listen to. And now... take a guess as to what's next. You guessed right! (Or wrong, depending on your guess.) QUOTES!!!!!

Gabrilla Montez: [about singing previously] Well, you sound like you've done a lot of singing, too. Troy Bolton: Yeah, my showerhead is very impressed.

Sharpay: Well congratulations, I guess I'm going to be the understudy in case you can't make one of the shows, so break a leg.

Ms. Darbus: [bell rings] Was that a cell phone?

Gabrilla Montez: The Wildcats' superstar is... afraid? Troy Bolton: No, no, I'm not afraid. I'm just... scared.

Chad: I smell a rat named Darbus... Kelsi: Actually, it's two rats neither of them named Darbus. Chad: Do you know something about this... small person?

Ms. Darbus: [to Chad] Mr. Danforth! This is a place of learning, not a hockey arena.

Skater Dude: If Troy can tell his secret, then I'm coming clean. I play the cello! Skater Dude #2: Awesome! What is it? Skater Dude: [mimes playing the cello] Skater Dude #2: A saw? Skater Dude: No dude, it's like a giant violin!

Sharpay: [pacing after callbacks announced] How dare she sign up. I've already picked out the colors for my dressing room. Ryan: Besides, she hasn't even asked our permission to join the drama club. Sharpay: [slams hands down on table] Someone's gotta tell her the rules. Ryan: Exactly. [long pause] Ryan: ... And what're the rules?

Ms. Darbus: Troy Bolton? Where is your sports posse, or whatever you call it? Troy Bolton: Uhh, team.

Chad: Look, that music in those shows isn't hip-hop, okay, or rock, or anything essential to culture. It's all show music. It's all costumes and makeup... oh, dude, it's frightening.

Ms. Darbus: And, we have not got a pianist. Ryan Evans: That's showbiz. Troy Bolton: We'll sing without a piano. Kelsi: Oh no you won't. Pianist here, Ms. Darbus. Sharpay Evans: You really don't want to do that. Kelsi: Oh yes, I really do.

Jack Bolton: Troy doesn't even sing.

Troy Bolton: Sharpay's kinda cute too. Chad: Yeah, so is a mountain lion, but you don't pet it.

Chad: What spell has this elevated IQ temptress girl cast that suddenly makes you wanna be in a musical?

Sharpay: [laughs] I'd rather stick pins in my eyes. Zeke: Well, wouldn't that be awfully uncomfortable?

Chad: What's up? Oh let's see, um you miss free period workout yesterday to audition for some heinous musical, and now suddenly people are confessing. Yeah Zeke, Zeke is baking. Crème brûlée. Troy Bolton: Oh. What's that? Zeke: Oh, it's a creamy custard-like filling with a caramelized surface, it's really satisfying. Troy Bolton: Yeah, cool.

Gabrilla Montez: When I was singing with you, I felt like just a girl. Troy Bolton: You even look like one too!

(After Sharpay asks how many school musicals have contained her music.)
Kelsi: This would be the first. Sharpay: Which tells us what? Kelsi: That I need to write you more solos? Sharpay: No. It tells us that you do not offer direction, suggestion, or commentary. And you should be thankful that me and Ryan are here to lift your music out of its current obscurity. Are we clear?

Gabrilla Montez: Did you ever feel like there was a whole other person inside you just looking for a way to come out? Taylor: No. Not really.

Guess Who Got to Watch a REALLY Great Movie?

I did. At long last, I have seen Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension!

The one thing that drives me crazy about a lot of animated movies is that they're always funny in the beginning, but then they're all serious at the end and they don't include any jokes at all. Not that there's anything wrong with being serious, but if you've got plenty of laughs at the beginning, why can't you have some at the end, too? Across the Second Dimension, however, didn't make those mistakes. They had TONS of jokes, all the way through, particularly for those who've seen multiple episodes. If you haven't seen it yet, WATCH IT! You can get it on DVD or find it on youtube. And now, without further ado, quotes! (You were all waiting for this one, weren't you?)

Dr. Doofenshmirtz: Again, Ow. No, it's okay, platypuses don't typically like me.

Dr. Doofenshmirtz: You know, I can't help but notice that your scar goes over your eye patch.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz (2nd Dimension): Yeah?
Yeah?Doofenshmirtz: …Nothing.

Phineas: (After he says "you're a secret agent!? the second time) Anyone else here living a bizarre double life? (Ferb raises his hand) Put your hand down, Ferb. (Ferb lowers his hand)

Phineas: Perry! W-We came to rescue you.
The camera zooms out, showing Norm Bots surrounding them.
Phineas: So far it isn't going as well as we hoped.

Seeing 2nd Dimension Candace fight the Norm bots
Phineas: Can you do that?
Candace: Well, Apparently.

Dr. Doofenshmirtz: Oh you caught it! Here, unlock me.
Candace: Are you even paying attention?
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: (looks at the lava) Oh that's right the lava, it can wait.

Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz: If I had a nickel for every time I've been doomed by a puppet, I would have two nickels.

Phineas Flynn: All this time, I didn't think you could spell "platypus" without "us."
Ferb Fletcher: Well, you can, but it would just be "platyp."

Farewell

Selenda: What!? You're leaving us!?
Nicki T.: Taking a break would be a better phrase to use, but, yes, basically.
Zora: WHAT! Don't you like us?
Nicki T.: Really, I DO like you and all. But your story isn't working. I'm going to do the Other Worlds curriculum and do a sci fi, then I'll come back to you. I need a break from fantasy.
Aidenn: Well, I guess it means I stay around longer!
Talia: Yeah!
Nicki T.: Yes, I suppose it does. Would you like to meet your replacements?
Zora: Well, even if I don't, you're going to introduce us to them.
Nicki T.: Yes, I suppose I would.
(Enter Eric, Amber and Blaze.)
Amber: Hey!
Eric: Uh, hi.
Blaze: Hi!
Selenda: Hello.
Amber: You don't seem to like us.
Aidenn: Sorry. We're just a little... we're in shock. Wait, how could you tell?
Blaze: Amber reads minds.
Aidenn: How is that possible?
Amber (blushing): Did you HAVE to tell them that? It's a bit complicated, but basically, I have something worked into my brain that allows my mind to reach out for brain waves and thought patterns. I can transmit and recieve them at will.
Zora: Sorry, we're just a little... well, Aidenn said it best. Shocked. She just dropped the bombshell.
Blaze: They had those in the Middle Ages?
Zora (shoves him over): Watch it! I'm a princess where I live, and if anyone knocks it, I tend to loose my temper.
Blaze: My apologies, your highness.
(Talia giggles. Zora taps her on the shoulder rather hard.)
Zora: It's not funny, Talia. You are my sister, after all.
(Amber and Selenda stand facing each other.)
Selenda: You are my temporary replacement?
Amber: Temporary. Your story isn't quite working for Nicki, so she's giving you a break.
Selenda: And that is comforting how?
Amber: You get to come back.
Ivar: I'm not sure if she wants to.
Nicki T.: Haha.
Ivar: Well, so long.
Aidenn: Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow,
A poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more.
Nicki T.: I didn't know you read Shakespeare.
Aidenn: I don't. I'm just a figment of your imagination. You do.
Nicki T.: Oh, right.
Aiden: Goodbye.
Zora: I'll be seeing you.
Talia: Well, see you later.
Selenda: Farewell.
(They walk out the door. Zora wipes away a tear.)
Nicki T.: Don't worry! I'll come back.
Amber: Your characters must love you.
(from outside)
Ivar: YIPEE! We're out of her clutches!
Zora: Guess who brought gummy worms! Crank the music, Aidenn!
(Classical music begins to play.)
Zora: Are you STILL trying to please Nicki by listening to music she can see you listening to? I heard the Owl City yesterday!
("Swimming in Miami" blares from the next room.)
Talia: Let's have some FUN!
Selenda: I could use a break.
(Nicki T. turns to look at her characters. They are glancing at each other.)
Nicki T.: They make it sound worse than it is.
Zora: Come on! I FINALLY get to heal from reading her synopsis! Imagine! Finishing off AIDENN, of all people! And Tarid! And putting Talia into a coma!
(Amber, Eric, and Blaze look as if their worse suspicions were confirmed.)
Nicki T.: So, maybe they weren't.

Adiemus

My choir is doing this song. In case you're wondering what the words mean, they don't actually mean anything. They mean whatever you want them to.

Conversations with Characters (Sleepover edition!)

Talia: I LOVE sleepovers!
Nicki T.: Yeah, they're not too bad. Hey, where's Zora?
Zora: Boo!
Nicki T.: Ah! Don't startle me like that! What do you guys want to do?
Selenda (winks at Nicki T.): Tell ghost stories?
Talia: Sure.
Zora: So long as you don't include too many cliches. Ghost stories are much too cliche to be scary. *Yawns* Pass the popcorn, please.
Nicki T.: Okay, Selenda. Go ahead. Scare Zora badly.
Selenda: Once, there was a girl named Nicki. She loved to pick on her characters. One night, she was camping with her friend Talia. *winks at Talia* They were just pitching the tent when they heard a rustling sound...
(Goes on to tell a long creepy story. Zora's eyes slowly grow wider.)
Selenda: And Nicki and Talia were never seen again.
Nicki T.: We're right here.
Zora: AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Selenda: I thought ghost stories were too cliche to be scary.
Zora: You did that on purpose.
Nicki T.: Maybe I did. Well, of COURSE I did. Come on, who wants to watch something?
Zora: What do you have?
Nicki T.: Well... we just got the Princess Bride.
Zora: You know how I am about those kinds of romances.
Nicki T.: Yes, I know.
Selenda: It reminds me a little of... well, you know.
Nicki T.: Oh. Have you seen Across the Second Dimension yet?
Talia: Phineas and Ferb! They're so cute!!!! MUST WATCH!!!!
Selenda: Do you have anything else?
Zora: I have to side with Selenda here.
Nicki T.: Yes, I have other movies. Do any of you like Prince Caspian?
Zora: Oh, yeah.
Selenda: Yes.
Nicki T.: I'll go get it.
(Nicki T. puts it into the DVD player.)
Nicki T.: Who likes gummy worms??

HAHAHAHA!!!

For those of you who've seen Rebecca Black's Friday, here's a parody.

Just for future refrence, I don't hate Rebecca Black's song. I might not like it, but I will refrain from mocking it. I heard she had to change schools because everyone was making fun of her.

37. What kinds of things get on his nerves?

People who don't give their opinion on things, people who plan everything out meticulously and get frustrated if there's one loose end, people who don't pay attention to the little things... people like Selenda, who plans everything, never gives out her opinion until she's heard everyone else's, and rarely takes notice of the little things. I LOVE TAGS!!!!

Here's an opening quote.

I could not live without books. - Thomas Jefferson

So very true.

Now, without further ado, a tag!

1. What is your characters name?

Selenda.

2. Does her name have any special meaning?

No.

3. Does your character have a methodical or disorganized personality?

Selenda has never been in a situation that required organization, but she would definitely have a methodical personality if she ever was.

4. Does she think inside herself more than she talks out loud to her friends?

She thinks inside herself and doesn't talk unless it's necessary.

5. Is there something she is afraid of?

She pretends she's not afraid of anything, but her greatest fear is that people will discover that she is. (This isn't important to the story, but she's secretly terrified of spiders.)

6. Does she write, dream, sing or dance?

She sings quite well and dances when she gets the chance.

7. What is her favorite book (or genre of book)?

She hasn't read anything in years, (there's a shortage of books in the wilderness) but she would probably like mysteries and maybe some historical fiction. She would also like history books.

8. Who is her favorite author and who/what inspires her?

She hasn't read anything in a long time.

9. What is her favorite flavor of ice cream?

They didn't have ice cream as we know it in the middle ages to the best of my knowledge, but her favorite flavor would probably be vanilla or chocolate chip mint.

10. Favorite season of the year?

Autumn.

11. How old is she?

She's fifteen.

12. What does she do in her spare time?

She doesn't exactly have lots of spare time, but when it's a cold winter day and she's staying at an inn, she likes to join the group around the fire place and listen to stories. She's not bad at telling them, either.

13. Does she see the big picture, or does she live in the moment?

She looks at the big picture.

14. Is she a perfectionist?

Oh, yes.

15. What does her handwriting look like?

Loopy and decorative. She was taught to write in a very calligraphy like style.

16. What is her favorite animal?

Dragons. She's okay with horses, but dragons are faster and they fly, making them a clearly better choice than a horse for travel. Not to mention they breath fire and can go find their own food.

17. Does she have any pets?

She doesn't view him as a pet, more as a partner, but she has a dragon named Tarid. A large black one, like Toothless in How to Train Your Dragon.

18. Does she have any siblings, how many, and where does she fit in?

No siblings.

19. Does she have a "life verse" and if so, what is it?

She doesn't have one that I've picked yet.

She doesn't have a family anymore, but she absolutely loved her parents when she was younger. They made sure she knew how to defend herself and knew about dragons.

She might if she saw one. And she hasn't seen any lately (or ever).

25. Does she like hedgehogs?

She admires them for their spikes.

26. What is her favorite kind of weather?

Warm days, with light breezes and spring colors. And if she's indoors, she likes cold, snowy days, when she can sit by the fire in an inn and listen to stories, with a mug of something hot in her hand.

27. Does she have a good sense of humor? What kind is it (slapstick, wit, sarcastic)?

She doesn't mind a joke, particularly a witty one.

She did well at reading and writing and everything else, though she preferred to be outside, learning about camouflage and plants.

Greens and browns.

34. Where is she from?

Originally, Golden Forest.

35. Any enemies?

Yes. Queen Olivine.

37. What kinds of things get on her nerves?

People who, for some reason, think she's an easy target because she's a girl. People who don't pay attention to the big picture and don't take things seriously and do things on an impulse. People like Aidenn, for example...

38. She is independent, or does she need others to help out?

She is independent.

39. What is her biggest secret?

She doesn't have any. Living in the woods alone and spending all your time hunting is not something that gives you lots of time for accumulating secrets. Besides, what would be her greatest secret is given away by her face. (You'll have to read the book to find out what that is, though!!!!)

40. Has she ever fallen in love?

No. She thinks that romance on this trip will only hinder it.

41. What's her favorite comfort food?

A bowl of warm soup and a drink of hot tea.

42. Does she play an instrument? If so, what?

She can't play any instruments.

43. What color are her eyes? Hair?

Her eyes are brown and her hair is black.

44. What is her favorite place to be?

By the fireplace in an inn, with a mug of something warm and an attentive audience. She doesn't read, but she is most certainly a storyteller.

45. What are some of her dreams or goals?

Right now, her goal is to just get her destiny fulfilled so she can continue with her wandering lifestyle. (Who thinks she might change her mind during the story?)

46. Does she enjoy sports?

She likes horseback riding. Okay, dragonback riding. Tarid is faster than a horse. She is also a talented archer and swords woman.

47. What is her favorite flower or plant?

Roses. Long stemmed ones, with red petals.

QUOTES!!!!

Cheshire Cat: What do you call yourself?
Alice Kingsley: Alice.
Cheshire Cat: *The* Alice?
Alice Kingsley: There's been some debate about that.

Cheshire Cat: I never get involved in politics.

The Mad Hatter: Have you any idea why a raven is like a writing desk?

Alice Kingsley: This is impossible.

Lady Ascot: Imbeciles! The garden is planted with white roses when I've specifically asked the red.
Alice Kingsley: You can always paint the roses red.

Lady Ascot: Do you know what I fear most?
Alice Kingsley: The decline of the aristocracy?
Lady Ascot: Ugly grandchildren.

Alice Kingsley: Hatter, why *is* a raven like a writing desk?
The Mad Hatter: I haven't the slightest idea.

Stayne - Knave of Hearts: You're all mad.
The March Hare: Thanks very much.

Blue Caterpillar: You're almost Alice.

Alice Kingsley: I love you, Margaret, but this is my life. I'll decide what to do with it.

The Mad Hatter: I've been considering words that start with the letter M. Moron. Mutiny. Murder. Mmm-malice.
The Red Queen: Well, we're looking for an A word right now. Where is Alice?

- from Alice in Wonderland

“Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor!”
-Effie Trinket

“Here’s some advice. Stay alive.”
-Haymitch Abernathy

“Panic begins to set in. I can’t stay here. Flight is essential.”…”But I can’t let my fear show”.
-Katniss Everdeen

"You’ve got about as much charm as a dead slug."
-Haymitch Abernathy

"There are much worse games to play."
— Katniss Everdeen

"Fire is catching! And if we burn, you will burn with us!"
-Katniss Everdeen

- from The Hunger Games (I am so excited about the movie coming out next year!!!!!!!)

Violet Baudelaire: We are very concerned.

[about the orphans who would love to take the Baudelaires' place] Count Olaf: But I don't care about them. I chose to open my heart to you two lovely children and your hideous primate.

Count Olaf: Hello, I'm going on a perfectly innocent ride in the country with my kids... whom I love.

Count Olaf: I'm gonna get you kids. No matter where you go, no matter what you do, I'll *find* you! Oh, you are so deceased!

Klaus Baudelaire: You know, Curdled Cave is for sale. Aunt Josephine: So? Klaus Baudelaire: So, pretty soon people are going to come to look at it. And some of those people will be... realtors.

Count Olaf: ...And I realized I have been a bit standoffish, Shall we say. Which in this case is a big, big word meaning... Violet Baudelaire: [interrupting] Pure evil.

Lemony Snicket: [the Littlest Elf has just come to an abrupt halt] I'm sorry to say that this is not the movie you will be watching. The movie you are about to see is extremely unpleasant. If you wish to see a film about a happy little elf, I'm sure there is still plenty of seating in theatre number two. However, if you like stories about clever and reasonably attractive orphans, suspicious fires, carnivorous leeches, Italian food and secret organizations, then stay, as I retrace each and every one of the Baudelaire children's woeful steps. My name is Lemony Snicket, and it is my sad duty to document this tale.

Count Olaf: Oh really... says who?

You all will remember I posted Alligator Sky before the album came out. Well, he made some changes. What do you all think of them? (I'm not sure which I like better.)

Selenda

Here's something I found on peppersinkwell.blogspot.com. I LOVE these sorts of things!

Name: Selenda (she doesn't really have a last name)

Occupation: wanderer (if you call that an occupation, it's the closest thing she has to one)

Place of work: where ever she decides to go

Home: where ever she decides to go

Age: 15

Head shape: oval

Hair: black. Very long, since she doesn't have a lot of opportunities to have it cut, and silky.

Eyes: brown

Nose: small

Mouth: normal

Skin: dark

Physical build: tall, very thin.

Posture: very upright

While sitting: usually sits with her legs crossed.

While standing: stands tall, with her back straight.

While walking: walks quickly with smooth, steady paces. Moves silently.

What you notice first: her brown eyes and her silent personality. You usually don't notice her at all until she wants you to, though.

Place of birth: a small manor in Golden Forest

Places lived: pretty much everywhere.

Siblings: none

Childhood experiences: she lived with her family until she was twelve, and was trained in many "unladylike" pursuits (such as sword fighting.) She had to leave suddenly and had several terrifying experiences until she learned how to manage on her own in the woods.

Education: she was taught all the "lady-like" pursuits, such as sewing, embroidery, reading, and how to run a household. (She actually enjoys them to a certain extent, so long as she has plenty of time to be outdoors.)

Special training: as I said earlier, she was taught how to use a sword. She also learned how to use a bow and arrows, and has extremely good aim. She also spent much of her childhood roaming the woods and gathering knowledge about plants and trees and camouflage, all of which she puts to good use.

Travel: with her family, she went to the capital a few times. Since she had to leave home, she's been everywhere, though she prefers not to spend too much time in the west of the country where she lives because - telling you would be a major spoiler.

Friends: since she travels so much, she's never had any for very long, except for her dragon Tarid.

Greatest sucess: managing to survive for years on her own, when she's being hunted for.

Characteristics: always listens to everyone's plans before stating her opinion. Never does anything without weighing the consequences. Is very quiet. As of yet, she's never lost her head during a crisis. Loves a challenge.

Markings: none.

Special skills or knowledge: can move without making a sound or being seen and has an incredible knowledge of plants and camouflage.

Collections and talents: Sings and tells stories very well.

What people like about him/her: her fierce determination, her listening skills, and her courage.

Interests and favorites: loves the colors of the forest. Loves to listen to the stories around the campfire.

Favorite food: fresh meat, preferably some sort of bird, cooked on a spit over a blazing fire.

Favorite drink: pear cider

Favorite music: slow, quiet songs, sung in other languages. Flutes are her favorite instrument.

Favorite books: she hasn't read anything in an awfully long time.

Favorite sport: sword fighting or archery

Dislikes: people who, for some reason, think that because she's a girl she'll be easier to beat or shouldn't fight.

Well, that's Selenda. How many of you like her?

Fan Fiction

Hello, everybody...

Does anybody else write fan fiction? For those of you who don't know what it is, fan fiction is when you take the characters and setting from a book/movie/game and write a story of your own involving them. I just joined a fan fiction site and have posted the prologue for the story. Just in case anyone's interested, here's the link:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7239201/1/Dinosaurs_and_Dragons

(This is the link, Alistar, sorry it took me so long to get it for you...)

I expect to have the next bit up soon.

I LOVE Tags!!!!

Here's a tag that I found on Whispers of the Wind. I have done it before, just not for this story.

1. What's your word count?

No idea.

2. How long until you finish?

A long time.

3. If you have finished, how long did it take you?

I said I didn't finish.

4. Do you have an outline?

Not really.

5. Do you have a plot?

I think so.

6. How many words do you typically write a day?

No idea.

7. What was your greatest word count in a day?

I don't really know, but it was a lot.

8. What was your least impressive word count in a day?

Zero. Yes, I actually DID turn the computer on that day. And I stared at the screen. And thought about what I should write.

9. What inspired you to write?

I don't really know. I just remember that I used to hate it, then I suddenly realized it was a lot of fun.

10. Does your novel/story have a theme song?

YES! It's "Bring Me to Life". It was the song that inspired it, so that naturally would be the theme.

11. Assign each of your major characters a theme song.

Selenda's might be "Bring Me to Life". Maybe. For the others, I'm not sure.

12. Which character is most like you?

I'm not sure. I put a few of my characteristics into all my characters. I just realized that now, actually. So I'm not sure exactly which is most like me.

13. Which character would you be friends with?

Definitely Selenda, my main character. I'd probably ask her to teach me how to shoot a bow and arrow. She's very good at it. She knows how to keep secrets, too.

14. Do you have a Gary-Stu or Mary Sue like character in your story?

Um... I'll get back to you on that.(Aidenn: Um, what exactly does that mean? Nicki T.: No idea.)

15. Who is your favorite character in your novel/story?

No idea. Selenda's great, especially since she doesn't complain about her problems. Then again, Talia is brave. And so is Zora. And the others aren't that bad either. I'm not big on my antagonist, though.

16. Have your characters ever done something completely unexpected?

As of yet, no. Maybe my antagonist surprises me at times, but she hasn't managed to do anything shocking yet.

17. Have you based anything in your novel on personal experiences?

No.

18. Do you believe in plot bunnies?

Do I believe in plot bunnies... do I believe the earth rotates around the sun? That gravity pulls things down to earth? That the Vancouver Canucks didn't win the Stanley Cup this year? YES I BELIEVE IN PLOT BUNNIES!!!! And they drive me crazy.

19. Is there magic in your novel/story?

No good magic. The antagonist uses it at times, but my protagonist wouldn't.

20. Are there any holidays in your novel/story?

None so far. Except the Summer Solstice.

21. Does anyone die?

Not yet. Not yet. But someone will... very soon. (Zora: Ah! Take cover! Ivar: Oh, quit it. You're not even in the story yet, so how would she get rid of you? Zora: Oh. Good point. Nicki T.: Not quite that soon! I still have a few things to do first.)

22. How many cups of coffee/tea have you consumed during your writing experience?

None. I don't like coffee, and tea isn't really my thing either. I prefer cold water for writing. I certainly drink a lot of that.

23. What is the latest you have stayed up writing?

I don't really know.

24. What is the best line?

Don't really know...

25. What is the worst line?

Let's not even go into that.

26. Have you dreamed about your novel/story?

Not that I remember.

27. Does your novel rely heavily on allegory?

Nope.

28. Summarize your novel/story in under fifteen words.

Couldn't quite do that at this moment.

29. Do you love all your characters?

Yes, maybe except my antagonist. And I also don't have wonderful feelings toward Talia at the moment... (Talia *swallows nervously*: I sense this will not go well for me...)

30. Have you done something sadistic or cruel to your characters specifically to increase word count?

Not specifically, but believe me, I don't skimp on making my characters suffer... (Zora: You can say that again. Ivar: Zora, you don't know the half of it! Believe me on this one!)

31. What was the last thing your main character ate?

A drink of pear cider.

32. Describe your main character in three words.

Let's see... silent, strong, cautious.

33. What would your antagonist dress up as for Halloween?

Not sure... probably a kitten or a fairy. (No, I'm not kidding. I can so see her doing that.)

34. Does anyone go to a place of worship?

Not yet, but they probably should at some point.

35. How many romantic relationships are there?

As of now, none.

36. Are there any explosions in your novel/story?

Not yet. Must include some, though.

37. Is there an Apocalypse in your novel/story?

No.

38. Does your novel take place in a post-apocalyptic world?

No.

39. Are there zombies, vampires or werewolves in your novel/story?

No. I don't write horror, or Twilight fan fiction. Particularly Twilight fan fiction.

40. Are there witches, wizards, or mythological creatures/figures in you novel/story?

Well, my antagonist uses a little magic. And I do have dragons.

41. Is anyone reincarnated?

No.

42. Is anyone physically ailed?

Right now, Selenda's in bed from a serious injury, but nothing's permanent - yet, anyway.

43. Is anyone mentally ill?

No. Well, I think one character is a little crazy, but if I confess exactly who it is, she will not be happy. (Zora: Are you referring to me? Nicki T.: No. You're in your right mind - so far, anyway. Zora: Uh-oh.)

44. Does anyone have swine flu?

Um... no...

45. Who has pets in your novel and what are they?

Well, Selenda has a dragon which has been traveling with her for years... no body else has a pet. This must be remedied!

46. Are there angels, demons, or any religious references/figures in your novel/story?

Um... so far, not really.

47. How about political figures?

Let's see... Selenda was a nobleman's daughter until she had to start hiding in the woods. Then there's Aidenn, a noble whose power was taken away by his brother. Then I have a queen, two princesses, and I don't know what all else right now.

48. Is there incessant drinking?

Well, that depends... my story is set in a medieval world, and they mostly drank ale and beer and wine in those days, so... yeah.

49. Are there board games?

Two guards in the beginning of the story play a game of dice. Otherwise, my characters are a little too busy to play games.

50. Are there dream sequences?

Yes, I suppose.

51. Is there humor?

I hope so.

52. Is there tragedy?

Oh yes! I've got all sorts of plans for my characters which will not be pleasant experiences for all involved.

53. Does anyone have a temper tantrum?

Queen Olivine (my antagonist) isn't against throwing one.

54. How many characters end up single in your novel/story?

An awful lot.

55. Is anyone in your novel/story adopted?

Not that I remember.

56. Does anyone in your novel/story wear glasses?

No. They didn't have them back then.

57. Has your novel/story provided insight about your own life?

Not really.

59. Has your novel/story inspired anyone?

Nobody's read it, so no.

60. How many other people have asked to read your novel/story?

Nobody in particular, but I'm going to show what's been completed to a friend.

61. Have you drawn any of your characters?

No. I'm terrible at that sort of thing.

62. Has anyone drawn your characters for you?

No.

63. Does anyone vomit in your novel/story?

Not yet. I could make somebody do it, though. Maybe I should...

64. Does anyone bleed in your novel/story?

Yes! In fact, Selenda is currently in bed because of her injuries during a little incident in the woods.

65. Do any of your characters watch TV?

They didn't HAVE television in the Middle Ages.

66. What size shoes does your main character wear?

No idea. I think she has small feet, but that's it.

67. Does any of the characters in your novel/story use a computer?

One word: no.

68. How would you react if your novel/story was erased entirely?

I would probably scream and rage at my laptop (which isn't a very good one anyway) and start crying. If an actual someone was responsible, on the other hand, well...

69. Did you cry at killing off any of your characters?

I haven't killed any yet. But I will.

70. Did you cheer when killing off one of your characters?

No. But I will be very happy when I don't have my antagonist around anymore.

71. What advice would you give to a fellow writer?

START WRITING!

72. Describe your ending in three words.

Um... I'll get back to you on that.

73. Are there any love triangles, squares, hexagons, ect?

No.

74. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being least stressful, 10 being the most) where does your stress rank currently?

About a two or three. I have major editing to do afterwards.

75. Was it worth it?

Which? The story or the tag?

That's all for now! Adios!

Conversations with Characters

Selenda: So, you've decided to make things worse for me. When you said you'd hit the ground running, I should have known I would have to start running to.
Nicki T.: Hey!
Aiden: Selenda, that's not fair. It makes you special.
Selenda: So being a wanderer without any friends or relatives didn't make me 'special' enough?
Nicki T.: I made you special for a reason.
Zora: Seems to me that ever way you make her 'special' also is a way of making things worse for her.
Nicki T.: Who's side are you on here?
Zora: Selenda's.
Nicki T. *groans*: Ivar? Can you help me out here?
Ivar: I don't know. You do tend to make things as bad as you can for her. And the rest of us too.
Nicki T.: She won't regret it.
Selenda: Are you sure? I'm regretting it already! I'm considering just giving it up!!!!
Nicki T.: Sorry. You're not in charge here. I am. And I already made the decision.
Selenda: ARG!
Nicki T.: That was out of character.
Aiden: Maybe you shouldn't. I mean, weren't all the things you did already enough?
Nicki T.: ARG! I'm in charge here! Not you! And I can do whatever I want to my characters! You're all in the realm of my imagination. NONE OF YOU ARE REAL!
Selenda: That was in character.
*Nicki T. grabs Selenda's arm*
Nicki T.: Would you just put UP with what I put you into! You won't regret it.
Selenda: That wasn't out of character either.
Nicki T. *grits her teeth*: I have a limit to my patience, and you are going to overstep it any moment.
Zora: Really? Where is it?
Nicki T.: You're standing on it. All of you.

Potter Puppet Pals: The Mysterious Ticking Noise

A friend showed this to me while I was in Newfoundland. Ha ha ha ha!!!!

I'm Back!!!

Selenda: You did work with us while you were gone. I am impressed.
Nicki T.: Really?
Selenda: And I should have known you would invent a new character.
Zora: So, what's his name?
Ivar: Boy or girl?
Nicki T.: Boy.
Selenda: What name did you pick?
Nicki T.: His name is Aiden. And you are going to be very close to him, Selenda.
Selenda: Let me guess... he is not around at the end of the story?
Nicki T.: You're catching on fast.
Selenda *groans*: Where is he?
*Knock sounds on door. Nicki T. gets up and answers it*
Aiden: Did I miss anything?
Nicki T.: Not really.
Selenda: So, you're another one of Nicki's inventions.
Aiden: I guess I am at that.
Selenda: Or should I say victims?
Nicki T.: Hey, I'm in charge here.
Selenda: Why can you not just give me a happy existence involving my staying at home until I am old enough to be betrothed?
Nicki T.: Because that would be incredibly boring. After you're through with this, you'll thank me.
Zora: I'm sure.

Conversations with NEW Characters

Zora: So... you're abandoning us already?
Nicki T.: Don't even start. I'm not abandoning you. I'm just going to be away for a while.
Zora: Why are you leaving in the first place?
Nicki T.: Because I've been looking forward to this trip all year, and it would take a lot more than you to keep me from taking it. And besides, you're coming with me on the trip... sort of. I'm going to work on your plot while I'm gone so when I get back I'll hit the ground running.
Zora: Yes, or you'll get a new idea and forget about us.
Ivar: Do you honestly think she'd do that?
*Zora stares Ivar straight in the eye*
Ivar: Oh.
Nicki T.: Ouch.
Selenda: Zora, if you make her angry, she's not going to make your life any easier.
Zora: And if I keep quiet, she won't make mine easier, either. How's your arm, by the way, Selenda?
(Selenda recently injured her arm in the story.)
Selenda: It's fine. It's not infected.
Nicki T.: If you want I could -
Selenda: If you want, I could flatly refuse to go with the story goal.
Nicki T.: Point taken.

After Tuesday, I won't be posting for a while. I'm going on a trip to Newfoundland. So, in case I don't post again before that, just letting you know.

I LOVE Tags!!!!

Here's a tag concerning Pierce, Amber (whose name I am considering changing to Alexandra) and Gale, which anyone who reads the comments on www.worldofwhatnot.blogspot.com will have heard of.

1. Do you want a hug?

Amber: No, thanks.
Pierce: Um, if you want to, but I don't really know you.
Gale: If you don't mind, I'd rather not.

2. What's your favorite color?

Amber: Silver, I think. Or maybe indigo. I've never really stopped to think about it.
Pierce: Green. Forest Green.
Gale: Black. (No, he's not a goth or anything - he just happens to like that color.)

3. Do you love anyone?

Amber: That depends. In a family way or in a boy-girl way? The answer to the latter is no.
Pierce: Sure. My brother Gale.
Gale: Pierce. And maybe Amber. *Amber leaps out of her chair* NOT IN A BOY-GIRL WAY!!!

4. What's your job?

Amber: I'm a student, training to be a pilot.
Pierce: Same here, not that I'll ever be as good as Amber, but I can dream, right?
Gale: Training to be a pilot, like the others.

5. Favorite season?

Amber: Uh... they didn't have seasons at the training school. Outer space doesn't have them, generally.
Pierce: Probably summer.
Gale: Winter.

6. Who is your best friend?

Gale: I don't know.

11. What is your greatest fear?

Amber: If I tell you, you'll make me face it. And from what I've been hearing, if this story goes the way you're planning, I will do more than that. I had a talk with a girl named Jasmine earlier. Apparently you discovered she's afraid of deep water?
Pierce: Um... that I won't pass the next test? If I don't pass I'll have to spend another year in my level.
Gale: I'm with Amber. I was listening to you and Jasmine.

12. What do you think of your family?

Amber: I admire my dad a lot. (Her dad, by the way, is dead. It's just that one of the important things in the story is that she refuses to believe it.)
Pierce: I never knew either parent, so I really don't know.
Gale: Same as Pierce.

13. Was it fun to answer these questions?

Amber: It's okay.
Pierce: I guess.
Gale: So long as I can tinker, I don't care what else I'm doing.

14. Do you have any weaknesses?

Amber: Refer to my answer for number 11.
Pierce: This is important to the tag? Well, I do tend to plan things out a bit too much.
Gale: None that I would confess in public... or to Nicki.

15. What's your species?

All together: HUMAN!!!!

16. What's your theme song?

(Haven't picked these out yet. Must do so!!!)

17. What's your favorite element?

Amber: Silver, I guess.
Pierce: Oxygen. Doing some experiments with that in the lab.
Gale: Gold.

18. Do you care what other people think about you?

Amber: Not really. So long as I do well in school and all that, I don't really give much weight to it.
Pierce: No.
Gale: YES!!! It means everything.

Anyone like my characters? Even a little bit? (In case you're wondering where Fletcher went, I changed his name to Pierce.)

Owl City - Galaxies *NEW SONG 2011* Lyrics

One really nice thing about Owl City - Adam Young is a Christian!

This is my brother's favorite song on this CD. On the album, it directly follows a tribute to the astronauts from a space shuttle that exploded.

[OFFICIAL FULL SONG] Dreams Don't Turn To Dust by Owl City + Lyrics

Love this song!!!! Probably my favorite in the whole album.

Owl City Angels Lyrics (FULL SONG!!!)

All Things Bright and Beautiful 2

I OWN A COPY OF ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!

It's sooooooooooooooooooo good. Only one thing, though. You all will remember I posted Alligator Sky a while back? Well, they changed it since. And the changes were not beneficial.

Anyway, my favorites songs are "Galaxies", "Dreams Don't Turn to Dust", and "Honey and the Bee". "The Real World" is pretty good too.

That's all for now!

A Profile Picture At Last!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, everybody! What do you all think of my new profile picture? I found it on http://www.princessofthelilywhiterose.blogspot.com/. I saw it on there a long time ago, and recently decided one of them would make a nice profile picture.

And here are some pictures!

The portrait of Miranda above is on my copy of The Tempest, which I read earlier this year.

Quotes

For those of you who aren't aware, I love quotes from movies. So I'm going to post some now.

From How to Train Your Dragon -

Astrid: [Referring to Toothless] I bet he's really frightened right now... what are you gonna do about it? Hiccup: Ehhh... probably something stupid. Astrid: Good, but you've already done that. Hiccup: Then something crazy...! Astrid: That's more like it!

Gobber: Meet the Terrible Terror! Tuffnut: Ha! It's like the size of my... [the Terror leaps onto his face] Tuffnut: OH, GET IT OFF!

the Viking teens enter the training grounds] Tuffnut: I hope I get some serious burns. Ruffnut: I'm hoping for some mauling, like, on my shoulder or lower back. Astrid: [sarcastically] Yeah, it's only fun if you get a scar out of it. Hiccup: [walking up behind them, with dry wit] No kidding, right? Pain. Love it. Tuffnut: Oh great! Who let him in?

Tuffnut: Oh, I'm hurt! I am very much hurt!

Hiccup: You just gestured to all of me!

Astrid: It's a mess. You must feel horrible. You've lost everything, your father, your tribe, your best friend... Hiccup: Thank you for summing that up.

Fishlegs: I'm okay! [the Gronkle he's riding flips over and lands on top of him] Fishlegs: Less okay!

Hiccup: [about Berk's dragon problem] Most people would leave, but not us. We're Vikings. We have stubbornness issues.

Gobber: Look for its blind spot! Every dragon has one. Find it, hide in it, and strike! [Tuffnut and Ruffnut huddle in front of the dragon's face] Ruffnut: [sniffing] Ugh! Do you ever bathe? Tuffnut: You don't like it, then just get your own blind spot! Ruffnut: How about I give you one...! [the dragon notices them. They scream and run for cover] Gobber: Blind spot, yes. Deaf spot? Not so much.

Astrid: [hanging from a tree branch] Hiccup! Get me down from here! Hiccup: You have to give me a chance to explain. Astrid: I am not listening to *anything* you have to say! Hiccup: Then I won't speak. Just let me show you. [softer] Hiccup: Please, Astrid. [Astrid lifts herself up and gingerly climbs onto Toothless's back] Astrid: Now get me down. Hiccup: Toothless, down. *Gently.* [Toothless spreads his wings, and the wind slowly lifts them into the air] Hiccup: See? Nothing to be afraid of... [Toothless launches himself into the sky at top speed, Astrid begins screaming] Hiccup: Whoa! Toothless! What is wrong with you? Bad dragon! [Almost losing her grip, Astrid lunges forward and wraps her arms and legs around Hiccup] Hiccup: [laughing nervously] He-he's not usually like this... [Toothless banks... ] Hiccup: Oh, no... [... and dives straight down toward the ocean, and Astrid screams louder, as Toothless plunges in and out of the ocean] Hiccup: Toothless, what are you doing? We need her to like us! [Toothless flies into the sky again and starts doing aileron rolls] Hiccup: And now the spinning. Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile. Astrid: [terrified] Okay, I am sorry! I'm sorry! Just get me off of this thing!

[first lines] Hiccup: [voice-over] This is Berk. It's twelve days north of Hopeless and a few degrees south of Freezing to Death. It's located solidly on the Meridian of Misery. My village. In a word? Sturdy, and it's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new. We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunset. The only problems are the pests. You see, most places have mice or mosquitoes. We have... [aloud] Hiccup: Dragons!

Hiccup: You, sir, are playing a dangerous game! Keeping this much raw viking-ness contained! There will be consequences! Gobber: [deadpan] I'll take my chances.

From A Series of Unfortunate Events -

Count Olaf: I'm gonna get you kids. No matter where you go, no matter what you do, I'll *find* you! Oh, you are so deceased!

Klaus Baudelaire: Did Ike die in a fire? Aunt Josephine: No, no, silly boy... he was eaten by leeches. Sunny: [non-subtitled] Okay.

Count Olaf: Why aren't you orphans in the kitchen preparing dinner? Violet Baudelaire: Dinner? Count Olaf: It's the French word for the evening meal.

Klaus Baudelaire: This is ridiculous! Violet's only 14! She can't be legally married! Count Olaf: She can if she has the permission of her guardian. And who's that? Oh, yes. Me! [laughs maniacally] Count Olaf: Look it up, bookworm!

Klaus Baudelaire: Aunt Josephine? Violet Baudelaire: Never heard of her. Klaus Baudelaire: Doesn't it strike you odd that none of our relatives are related to us?

Count Olaf: I will raise these orphans as if they were actually wanted!

The Detective: [to Violet] Little girl, the big cage door is open. No snake. Dead guy. You know what I'm thinking? I'm thinking who woke me up at nine in the morning for this?

From The Parent Trap -

Hallie: I have a brilliant beyond brilliant idea!

Annie: That girl is without a doubt, the lowest, most awful creature to ever walk the planet! Hallie: [watching from outside, impersonating Elvis] Thank you, thank you very much!

Hallie: You wanna know the *real* difference between us? Annie: Let me see... I know how to fence and you don't... Or I have class and you don't. Take your pick. Hallie: Why I oughta!

Annie: [Hallie is getting ready to cut Annie's hair] Don't shut YOUR eyes! Hallie: Okay, sorry. Got a little nervous! Annie: YOU'RE nervous? An 11 year-old is cutting my hair! Hallie: Hey, you sounded just like me! Annie: Well, I'm supposed to, aren't I?

Meredith Blake: You know, from the way your father talked about you, I expected a little girl, but you are so grown-up. Annie as Hallie: I'll be twelve soon. How old are you? Meredith Blake: [chuckling] Twenty-six. Annie as Hallie: Only fifteen years older than me! How old are you again, Dad? Nick Parker: Wow, suddenly you're so interested in math!

Nick Parker: I told Hallie. Meredith Blake: You did? And? Nick Parker: She went ballistic. She started yelling in French. I didn't even know she spoke French.

Annie: This is Martin, our butler Hallie: [in shock] We have a butler?

Did anyone laugh? Even a little?

Plot Bunnies

I really hate plot bunnies. I get one good idea going, and I start the story, then another idea hops into my head. AH! It's insanely annoying. Last night, yet another plot bunny started hopping around and I can't get it to leave! ARG! (For those of you who don't know, a plot bunny is a story idea that hops around in your head while you're working on something else.)

Coral: Hey! What about us?
Nicki T.: IT'S NOT MY FAULT!!!!!!!
Sir Eli: Have you ever tried telling it you'll save it for National Writing Month!
Nicki T.: I did. And guess what? IT DIDN'T WORK!
Jarek: I don't see how you can think our story is boring.
Nicki T.: It isn't. It just needs some work. I'll get to you eventually. And whatever I research for them benefits you too. And I didn't say I was going to write it first.
Coral (tiptoeing up behind Jarek): Seems that way.
(Coral yells. Jarek jumps and screams.)
Jarek: AH! How many times have I asked you not to do that?
Coral: Thirteen by my count. Did you count fourteen or something?

ACK! I hate plot bunnies!!!!!! Maybe, since something lacks in the idea I have, I'll save it for National Writing Month. That would give me time to work on it. I don't really know. Any helpful ideas would be appreciated.

Mockingjay

I have at last read the final book in Hunger Games - Mockingjay.

Katniss has been relocated to District 13, which was thought to have been obliterated. The symbol of the mockingjay has become the rebel's symbol - and the symbol they want her to become. Katniss doesn't know whether or not she wants to be the mockingjay, but when she realizes what she could gain by it, she agrees to do her part. The conditions include her being allowed to kill President Snow, who has been threatening her and responsible for the death of many people she loves, her little sister Prim being allowed to keep her cat Buttercup, and tributes being pardoned for their crimes. There's just one little hitch - she puts one toe out of line and President Coin of District 13 will kill her and her friends.

Mockingjay was amazing, but also sad. Peeta, who she's been pretending to love, has been brainwashed to make him hate her. Other people get killed. The ending was sad, too.

Katniss is the same as ever, disobeying orders and causing trouble. At the end, she makes several choices, both of which involve people's lives. One of her choices is understandable, although rather unkind to President Coin. But she votes to have a final Hunger Games to take revenge on the Capitol! I can't believe she did that. She was in the Hunger Games twice and she was willing to put other kids into it just because they were related to various politicians. I was so disappointed.

Coral

Nicki T. (gets up and opens the door): Finally! I was just talking about you.
Levina: That was an astounding entrance.
Coral: Not really. I was standing outside the door, waiting for Nicki to explain before I came in.
Levina: So, are you going to introduce yourself?
Coral: I'm Coral. And you're Levina.
Levina (impressed): How did you know?
Coral: I just told you was waiting outside the door. I had my ear pressed to it.
Nicki T. (laughing): Why am I not surprised?
Coral: Possibly because you created me and you know my every habit and liking. Though I might surprise you at times with my behavior.
Nicki T.: Why don't I doubt that in the least?
Coral: Because you created me and knock I delight in surprising people?
Nicki T.: You do at that.
Sir Eli: Welcome to the cast. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Coral: Knowing Nicki, I won't. I heard what she did to Selene a couple weeks ago.
Nicki T.: You obviously know me fairly well.
(Jarek snores from the chair. He's out like a light.)
Coral: Sh!
(She tiptoes behind the chair. She gives it a shove and it falls to the floor. Jarek falls out and sits up, looking dazed.)
Nicki T.: Was that really necessary, Coral?
Coral: Not really. Hi, Jarek. I'm Coral.
Jarek: Do you spell that C-O-R-E-L or C-O-R-R-A-L.
Coral: I think you've got the brains to figure that out.
Levina (to Coral): He doesn't.

What do you guys think of Coral? I'm trying to make her mischevious, but not mean in any way.

Conversations with Characters (Again)

Hello, my few readers! I'm going through the research stages of my medieval fantasy. I'm having trouble deciding what time to set it in. Right now, I'm thinking about the 14th century. Then again, maybe at some point later. Oh, the indecision!

Anyway, here is my cast of characters. I'm working out the details of the story at the moment. The original idea just doesn't have enough to it, so I'm considering adding in another main character (one who shows up during part two), who comes with her own set of problems to make things even more complicated. I wonder what everyone thinks of that...

(My characters are sitting around in my living room. Jarek is relaxing in a chair that looks like it might collapse under his weight. Sir Eli is leaning in the doorway. Levina is sitting on the couch. Nicki T. is staring at the computer screen. Her eyes are glazed over.)

Levina: Are you almost done yet, Nicki?
Nicki T.: Kind of busy.
Sir Eli: Computers are an evil invention.
Nicki T.: You're just saying that because they weren't invented when you existed.
Sir Eli: That's not the point. And I do exist at this moment.
Nicki T.: Only in my imagination. And if you want, my imagination can imagine you away.
Levina: So, are you nearly done?
Nicki T.: No. And I won't be done for a while.
Jarek: How long does it take to research for a book?
Nicki T.: Several months.
Jarek: But I have to be back for dinner tonight!
Nicki T.: I'm going to stop for a break in a minute or two.
Levina (covering her mouth in an attempt to stop herself from laughing): Um, Nicki? What were you saying earlier about my sharing a position as MC with someone else?
Nicki T.: Yes. It's not that I don't find your story interesting, I just think it'll be better if you share it with someone.
Levina: I don't really mind. But who were you thinking of?
(A knock at the door.)
Nicki T.: I think that's her now.

Favorites

Okay, I have decided to list my favorite antagonists and protagonists today. No special reason.

Favorite protagonists:

Percy Jackson (from Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

He's got a serious gift for ticking people off. And when it comes to girls, he's stuck in the middle between Rachel and Annabeth.

Auralia (from Auralia's Colors)

She's wild. Plays with animals that people are scared of. She has a talent for colors that astonishes everyone around her - and also alarms them because it's illegal.

Katniss (from The Hunger Games)

She's willing to do whatever to takes to protect her family and friends - even if it means she'll get killed in the process. She hunts illegally for what her family needs, knowing that if she ever gets caught, she'll be executed. However, when she shows up at the market with a turkey, everyone, even the people who are supposed to punish her for what she does, follows the standard protocol - bid on the drumsticks.

Favorite antagonists:

Mother Gothel (from Tangled)

She's rotten enough to kidnap a little girl, but treats the girl nicely. She keeps her in a tower, yes, but the tower is big and the girl has plenty to do. Mother Gothel is even willing to take a trip to the beach to get shells to make the girl paint - a three day trip.

Alexei Sarov (from Skeleton Key)

He's attempting to reinstate communism, but he's not willing to kill the spy they sent to find out what he was doing. He's even willing to adopt him, mostly because the spy reminds him of his son.

Catching Fire

I have at last read Catching Fire!!!!!!

After waiting weeks for it to come to the library, it finally came! And did it fulfill my expectations?

Katniss, after winning the Hunger Games and defying the capital in the process, is home at last. She's worried that the capital will punish her for a little stunt she pulled in the arena during the Games. Her worst fears come true when President Snow comes for a little chat. He's warning her - if she doesn't convince everyone she's hopelessly in love with Peeta (who she has little interest in) he'll kill her family and her friend's family. So, during a tour of districts 1-11 (she lives in district 12) she attempts to convince the world that she wasn't defying the Capitol during the Games. Unfortunately, she fails. In a desperate last ditch attempt to save the lives of everyone she loves, she agrees to marry Peeta when she's old enough. Peeta's fine with the arrangement (since his feelings are the complete opposite of Katniss's - he's hopelessly in love with her) and the two begin to make plans for their wedding. However, the Capitol isn't fooled. Katniss - and her pin with the mockingjay on it - have become a symbol of defiance. And they want both destroyed.

I loved this book. The end of the book can be a bit confusing if you don't read it carefully. Also, Peeta lies, telling everyone he and Katniss are already married. He also claims Katniss is going to have a baby. I thought that was a totally unnecessary lie and was rather disappointed. Still, the book was pretty good. I can't wait to find out what happened next.

Adios!

Skeleton Key

Skeleton Key has arrived at the library at last! Book three in the Alex Rider series is soooo great! I was kind of disappointed Wolf didn't show up again, though.

In this one, Alex meets up with a man from M16 while at a sports game. The man offers him a chance to go to Wimbledon as a ball boy. After uncovering a plot to ensure a certain tennis player wins, M16 sends him to pose as the son of two CIA agents who are traveling to an island near Cuba - Skeleton Key.

I really liked the villain in this one. Sarov is very human. He knows Alex is a threat. He has the power to kill him - and every reason. But he won't because Alex reminds him of his son Vladimir. He's actually willing to let Alex become his son. If Sarov's crazy plan goes though, that would mean Alex could have almost anything he wanted. But Alex does everything in his power to stop him. Sarov honestly believes what he's doing is right, too.

Well, that's all for now! Adios!

Have I ever mentioned that I write poetry? Not a lot of it, but I find it enjoyable when I have an idea. Here's a poem I just wrote.

Ode to Onomatopoeia

It rings,
It crashes,
It bashes,
It drips,
It ticks,
It tocks,
It thuds,
It clangs,
It bangs.
What else is there to say?

Please comment and say what you think of my poem.

Apocalypse? and other matters

I'm not supposed to be posting today.

The world was supposed to end yesterday. And it didn't.

Sure, it would have been nice if the world ended. We would all be in heaven with Jesus. And I wouldn't have to worry about learning how to graph a circle. But the world didn't end.

And, to be honest, I wasn't expecting it to.

How do you think they're going to explain this one? An error in their calculations, most likely. (Or most definitely.) Or maybe just an error in even thinking they could predict it. After all, "no one knows the day or the hour". So I went about my business yesterday and actually forgot the apocalypse. And it turns out I didn't need to worry. :)

So, now that the threat of the apocalypse is over, I think I'll have a talk with my characters about it.

Nicki T.: Phew! Disaster averted.
Sir Eli: I suppose you could say that.
Levina: Then again, I suppose you could say there was never a disaster to avert.
(Everyone laughs.)
Nicki T.: Hey Jarek! It's raining fire!
Jarek: AHHHHHHH!
(Jarek runs away, trying to find shelter. Nicki T. snickers. Levina rolls her eyes. Sir Eli glares, but there is a small smile at the corners of his mouth.)
Levina: She was just teasing, Jarek.
Jarek (coming out from under the table): I knew that.
Levina (attempting to hide a smile): Oh, really. Sir Eli, did you think it was going to happen?
Sir Eli: I had my hopes.
(A rumbling sound fills the air. The floor starts shaking.)
Jarek: EARTHQUAKE! THEY WERE RIGHT AFTER ALL!
(Jarek dives under the table again.)
Nicki T.: Jarek? That was just a truck going by.
Jarek: What's a truck?
Nicki T.: It's kind of like a carriage, only without horses.

(Please note none of my characters but Nicki T. know what a truck is because they're from a medieval world. They don't have a clue either, they just don't ask.)

Conversations with Characters

Okay, how many of you know what a plot bunny is? For those of my readers who have never
heard of them, a plot bunny is an idea that will simply not leave a writer alone while they're working on something else. Plot bunnies seem to enjoy picking on me quite a bit. However, I've learned how to deal with them.

Advice on how to deal with plot bunnies - indulge them, spoil them, and give them what they want. Just don't write about them until you're done what you're already working on.

Levina is my current plot bunny. She's clamoring for attention, and as long as I humor her, she doesn't complain - much, anyway. So I am going to humor her... right now. I currently have four characters, but I'm only going to use three.

Nicki T.: Would you guys please leave me alone?
Sir Eli: We need some attention here.
Levina: I don't mean to push, but I would like to get this over with.
Nicki T.: Well, I always could just prolong it.
Jarek: I think prolonging it could be take, uh...
Levina: A while, Jarek.
(Nicki T. snickers. Levina smiles.)
Nicki T. (whispering to Levina): Is he always like that?
Levina: What do you think?
(Sir Eli gives Nicki T. and Levina a stern look.)
Levina (clears her throat): So, do you think that you can start soon?
Nicki T. (scratches the back of her neck): I just don't know. I've got other obligations, you know. To other characters. Like Petra and Maryiss.
Jarek: We're important, too!
Nicki T.: When, pray, did I state that you weren't?
Jarek: I dunno. When did you?
(Levina smiles at Nicki T. They wink.)
Nicki T.: Now, about the timing. I have research to do before I start. Medieval fantasy is great, it just requires research.
(Levina sighs.)
Levina: Why can't you start now and research as you work?
Nicki T.: Because I have other writing to do. And you'll just have to wait for that.
